Marqués de Montecierzo is a family-owned winery managed by the Lozano-Melero family, who represent four generations of dedication to viticulture. The winery is located in Castejón, in Navarra’s Ribera region, and is housed in a striking 20th-century industrial building—once the most important flour factory in northern Spain and later repurposed during the Spanish Civil War. Today, it stands as a protected heritage site and is also known for hosting one of the region’s largest white stork colonies.
The winery produces all of its wines on-site using grapes from its own 30 hectares of vineyards. These are split between two main estates—La Sarda and Majarrasas—planted on limestone soils shaped by the arid Bardenas Reales desert and located between 400 and 510 meters above sea level. The vineyards are managed organically, and the northeastern exposure, combined with the stable climate and calcareous soils, contributes to slow ripening and optimal fruit expression.
Joaquín and Roberto Lozano, father and son, oversee every aspect of vineyard management and winemaking. Their approach is deeply rooted in traditional methods and sustainability. The wines are fermented and aged in new French and American oak barrels, with an emphasis on balance, structure, and authenticity.
Bodega Marqués de Montecierzo produces a focused portfolio that includes its flagship wines Emergente, Montecierzo, and Marlauro, which have received recognition from Decanter, Mundus Vini, Concours Mondial, and Guía Peñín, among others. With full control from vineyard to bottle, the winery delivers elegant wines that reflect the unique terroir of southern Navarra.
