OTAZU

OTAZU

Located in a privileged valley just outside Pamplona, Bodega Otazu is the northernmost single-estate vineyard in Spain certified as a D.O.P. Pago. Surrounded by the Sierra del Perdón and Sierra de Sarbil, this historic estate combines centuries of winemaking with contemporary art, architecture, and a deep commitment to terroir and sustainability.

Bodega Otazu stands out for producing all of its wines from its own 95-hectare vineyard, under the strict regulations of the D.O.P. Pago de Otazu—the highest classification in Spanish wine law. The estate’s calcareous soils and Atlantic-influenced climate result in elegant, expressive wines that reflect the purity of the land.

Otazu’s history is anchored in a 12th-century manor and a 19th-century winery, while its modern facility—built in 1998—is a gravity-flow, state-of-the-art cellar designed for precision winemaking. More than a winery, Otazu is also home to the Fundación Otazu, which integrates contemporary art into every corner of the estate, positioning it as one of Spain’s few "wine & art" estates.

Under the technical direction of Enrique Basarte, viticulture is sustainable, regenerative, and low-intervention. The estate grows Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Tempranillo, and Chardonnay—each handled with care to highlight origin and varietal identity.
